The Acura NSX: Stolen Style; Great Performance

2016 Acura NSX Red

For any car company, when they build a halo car we expect it to be beyond attractive and unique. It should offer us a look at a car that we haven’t seen before and show a style that will attract a huge audience for it sport, overall appeal and finally performance. The Acura NSX has a huge buzz going around the auto world as it is released for sale in 2016, but many of the style features unfortunately fall short of what we would like to see in a car that is supposed to be the next great thing for any car company.

The NSX name has been one that brought thoughts of an awesome sports luxury car that outperformed all of its competition in its heyday. Unfortunately much of that heyday is gone as is the significance of this sports car, which would have been much better off using some of its previous stylings to bring back feelings of the amazing car it once was. Instead we have a car coming out next year that appears to have pilfered looks from several automakers rather than being a unique version for itself.

Overall, the NSX is a gorgeous car and many won’t even notice the small pieces that look similar to what other automakers produce, but those in the know will be bothered by them. First, the front grill looks like it came off any one of the many Mazda vehicles and wants to shout “zoom-zoom” at you rather than being on this Acura. The rear actually echoes the look of a Peugeot 407 Coupe, a car that Americans won’t know much about, but the European market may be a bit bothered to see on the back of their NSX models.

Even though the NSX is being sold as a completely unique car you can plainly see it is not. With that being said, and the bashing done, the NSX does offer itself up as a technological marvel and it is that without a doubt. This is one car that will bring the hybrid sports car models to the forefront of desire and have many other automakers. The power for the NSX will be a longitudinally placed twin-turbocharged V6 engine that will be assisted by three electric engines; one in the rear and two up front. This will also be an all-wheel drive car, making sure you can drive it and control it through any turns you need to. This engine will be attached to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission with a special launch control onboard.

Overall, the performance of the NSX will charm the pants off anyone who is looking for awesome power and control in a sports car that can reach some exciting speeds and handle the twists and turns of mountain passes and canyon runs. If Acura had simply come up with their own version of the exterior parts this would be the perfect halo car, but maybe the car world is becoming like movies where the same story is redone with newer and younger characters.
