Dealer's Journal Industry A Comprehensive List of 200+ MPH Vehicles

A Comprehensive List of 200+ MPH Vehicles

For years 200 mph was the pinnacle of speed for cars. The car had to be absolutely perfect and the driver have guts of steel in order reach 200 mph. And that was just to reach it, not surpass it, which so many cars are more than capable of today. The way the ulta-sports cars and high performing sedans run now, you can hit 200 mph much easier than ever.

This is of course the result of cars being built from lighter materials, having active aerodynamics, and force induction engines all on board to make it easier for many cars to reach this once nearly impossible pinnacle of speed. With this in mind, here is a three tiered list of cars that can reach 200 mph for your enjoyment.

Cars of today that can reach 200 mph

Aston Martin Rapide S

Aston Martin Rapide S

As a top notch four door sports coupe, this is a car that can be fun for everyone inside. The balance and spaciousness is surprising for a car on this awesome list. The Rapide S shows up with a 552 horsepower engine and a top speed of 203 mph.

Aston Martin Vanquish

Aston Martin Vanquish

A truly beautiful and graceful car the Vanquish shows up as one of the best looking GTs ever. With a six-speed automatic transmission the car isn’t all it can be, but with the eight-speed aboard it is truly amazing. The top speed for the Vanquish comes in at 201 mph.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage S/Roadster

Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

A bit smaller in stature and length than other Aston Martin models, the Vantage has a huge set of chops in its massive V12 engine to outrun many of the other Astons. It’s not as sleek as the Vanquish but offers a look of pure excitement and adrenaline to be truly enjoyed. The Vantage S/Roadster shows off a tops speed of 205 mph.

Bentley Continental GT Speed/GTC Speed

Bentley Continental GT Speed

As a luxurious and stylish coupe the Continental is kind of a misnomer as it is truly a fast car. The Bentley shows off 626 horsepower and gives owners everything they could want in a car that has the ability to reach a top speed between 203 and 206 mph.

Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac CTS-V

I almost had to check this one twice, but the CTS-V cracks into the groups with its top speed right at 200 mph. The CTS-V has a powerful 640 horsepower engine and looks like a true Cadillac with elegant stylings and luxury at every corner.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

2016 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

The Corvette has been and American icon for so many years it’s as American as apple pie and gives off some of the best performance that can be seen on American soil. This version of the Corvette carries in a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces 638 horsepower and offers up a top speed of 205 mph.

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat White

If this beauty didn’t make the cut I might be sorely disappointed. With everything that has been put in the Hellcat line, especially the 707 horsepower from the amazing V8 supercharged engine the Charger shows off a top speed of 204 mph. Slighter lighter than its brother the Challenger, which doesn’t make the list because its top is 199 mph, which of course is worth mention.

Ferrari 458 Italia/Speciale

Ferrari 458 Italia

Stylish and sophisticated the 458 Italia has a mid-engine that is aground breaker with its awesome and unmistakable good looks along with a top speed of 202 mph. The successor, the 488 GTB with debut in the Geneva motor show and bring in a 661 horsepower turbocharged V8 that offers top speed of 205 mph.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

The Berlinetta is a bit of a unique creature. It’s comfortable to sit in and driver for long distances, unlike many of the other sports cars on the list. With clean lines and a cruiser mentality the Berlinetta can shock you by showing off a top speed of 211 mph.

Ferrari FF

Ferrari FF

Amazingly this four-seater car can carry the weight of four people and still make some serious top speeds. With the all-wheel drive aboard you could actually take this little beauty out on the snow for some real excitement. The FF shows off with a top speed of 208 mph and style that is quietly amazing.

Ferrari LaFerrari

Ferrari LaFerrari

A truly high powered and overly designed sports car the LaFerrari looks like it belongs on a track and not on the street, but it is made to work well on the streets. Every surface has something to do with helping the car go faster and the car can really fly. The V12 engine shows off an impressive 789 horsepower with an electric motor to assist that adds 161 horsepower for a combined 950 horsepower. This massive power output give the LaFerrari a top speed of 217 mph.

Lamborghini Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador

A true bull in every sense of the word the Aventador is harsh, brutish and takes it 691 horsepower V12 to the mat against all contenders and comes out on top. The looks are as harsh as this bull sounds like it should, with everything helping to create an impressive top speed of 217 mph.

Lamborghini Huracan

Lamborghini Huracan

As the smallest bull in the barn, the Huracan can shoot from 0-125 mph in only ten seconds. This beast is gorgeous and not as overly designed as the larger Aventador. With its great looks and impressive comfort this is one Lamborghini that offers comfort and can reach a top speed of 202 mph.

McLaren 650S Coupe/Spider

McLaren 650S Coupe

With the call for more power McLaren scrapped the MP4-12C and brought in the 650S (great choice). With dynamic and unique designs the 650S shows off a 3.8-liter V8 that shows off 641 horsepower which helps it reach the top speed of 204 mph.

McLaren P1

McLaren P1 Yellow

This car is the reason Ferrari decided to create the 488 GTB as it has an astounding look that says only one thing to us, speed. This beastly beauty is powered by a 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 that shows off 727 horsepower along with being assisted by a 177 horsepower electric motor for a combined 904 horsepower. This amazing hybrid powertrain makes this car rocket to a top speed of 217 mph, and screams at Ferrari “top that”.

Porsche 918 Spyder

Porsche 918 Spyder Driving

Another one of my personal favorites that is a must for this list is the Porsche 918 Spyder which comes in as a seriously high performing super car. With a top speed of 214 mph the Spyder is powered by a 606 horsepower V8 aided by 129 horsepower front and 156 horsepower rear electric motors. The 918 Spyder can reach sixty mph in 2.5 seconds and is another one on this list that is plenty comfortable for cruising.

SRT Viper

SRT Viper

As one of the first offerings from SRT that is not attached to the Dodge name anymore, the Viper has amazing road manners and the same great looks that make this snake one that is ready to strike. As a great car to take for a long cruise or to rocket across a track, the SRT Viper shows off with a top speed of 206 mph.

Cars of yesterday that can reach 200 mph

2009-2012 Aston Martin One-77

A look that took the 2009 Geneva auto show by storm the One-77 carried in a 7.3-liter V12 engine that pumped out 750 horsepower and was attached to a six-speed automated manual transaxle. This amazing Aston showed up the rest with an amazing top speed of 220 mph.

1999-2000 Aston Martin Vantage V8 V600 Le Mans

Just the name is enough to wear a person out, but this car is actually ugly. Obviously many cars of this ere were not what they once had been or are again today, but this thing looked like an old Datsun attached to a BMW. Even so, the car carried in a twin-supercharged V8 that receive a bump with the V600 package and brought a top speed of 200 mph which made it the fastest Aston until the One-77 came to be.

2004-2007 Aston Martin Vanquish S

By adding a bump in power to 520 horsepower the Vanquish offered huge power that was up from the 460 horsepower. This additional power came from bigger injectors, better connecting rods and modified combustion chambers. With exceptional styling the Vanquish S brought the heat with a top speed of 200 mph.

2009-2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed

This car is truly an enigma. One of the ugliest Bentleys ever built, probably because much of the styling came from Volkswagen, the Flying Spur had some seriously enjoyable features such as the fact it can fly like a Lamborghini. At 600 horsepower this version of the Continental Flying Spur offered a top speed of 200 mph.

2010-2013 Bentley Continental Supersports

This Bentley offered a convertible option and is good looking car even though it appears a bit snub-nosed. As the fastest and most powerful Bentley to date this beauty offers 621 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged W-12 engine that helps bring this car to a top speed between 202 and 205 mph.

1991-1995 Bugatti EB110

As one of the first cars to feature carbon-fiber parts, the EB110 had an all-aluminum body a pushrod suspension, all-wheel drive, and a quad-turbocharged V12 engine that offered up 561 horsepower. This beauty was sleek and stylish giving the car one of the best looks ever. This amazing car that was obviously ahead of its time showed up with a top speed of 213 mph.

2005-2015 Bugatti Veyron (Grand Sport 16.4, Grand Sport Vitesse, Super Sport)

Without a doubt, this car has been the absolute pinnacle of speed with a tops speed that reaches much higher than any other car on this entire list. The Veyron offers a sleek rounded style and a body structure made to make this beauty turn beastly in a heartbeat. The Veyron for this time period offered a top speed of 217 to 268 mph.

2008-2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe

The Viper SRT 10 carried in its V19 engine in style and speed that makes this venomous creature one of the most deadly strikes around. This engine offered a displacement of 8.4-liters and a power of 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. The top speed for this amazing creature came in at 202 mph.

2002-2006 Ferrari 575M Meranello

With a very muted body style that seems to simply cut through any wind resistance the 575M had a V12 engine that brought in a top speed of 202 mph. This front-engine beauty set the bar for this style of Ferrari and the company has fallen in love with using this model to create even more, especially due to the great sales this car experienced.

2006-2012 Ferrari GTB/GTO

Another great front-engine Ferrari (thanks 575M Meranello); this model has a curvaceous body and gorgeous stylings to make it one of the most attractive Ferraris. The 6.0-liter V12 engine produces 612 horsepower in the GTB model, but add the GTO kit to it and the horses jump up to 661. This beauty brings in a top speed between 205 and 208 mph.

2002-2003 Ferrari Enzo

In a true style that gave homage to the founder himself, the Enzo shows up as an awesome street car that is even better on a track. This sharp and amazing car comes in with race car good looks and a lot of attitude to go along with it. For this nod to Mr. Ferrari himself, the top speed shows up at 217 mph, well ahead of the curve.

1987-1992 Ferrari F40

As the first 200 mph production car the F40 is one of the most recognizable Ferraris on any road and offers as much road manners as it did during its production run, none. This is a “get out of my way” kind of car that needs some room to run, especially if it’s going to reach that top speed of 201 mph.

1995-1997 Ferrari F50

With a serious amount of engine changes from the F40, the F50 gave more confidence to drivers and made the top speed move up a bit. The overall look was of rounder edges and an amazing overall style. Powered by a 513 horsepower 4.7-liter V12 engine this car had a top speed of 202 mph.

2005-2006 Ford GT

Having no choice but to rekindle the flame of completion between Ford and Ferrari Ford offered the GT as one of the most amazing American made super cars on the road at the time. With a mid-mounted 5.4-liter V8 that brought in 550 horsepower and a look that defined speed the top speed for the Ford GT showed up at 205 mph.

2013-2014 Ford Shelby GT500

Barley making the list, but still making it at a top speed of 200 mph, the Shelby name for Ford has been the benchmark by which all Mustangs are measured and most often found wanting. This beauty had beastly style and gave owners one of the most comfortable rides of any high powered sports cars.

1992-1994 Jaguar XJ220

Another beauty that was well ahead of its time is the XJ220. Long, low and full of air cutting features this car was built for nothing but speed. Powered by an amazing turbocharged V6 this car was capable of reaching top speeds of 213 mph which certainly would have been much higher had the engineers had their way and been able to fit this car with a V12 instead.

1990-2001 Lamborghini Diablo

One of the most recognizable cars because of the signature shape and the winged scissor doors, the Diablo offers a hell of a ride to those choosing this mad bull. Powered by a 5.7-liter V12 engine that brought in 485 horsepower, this car was capable of a top speed of 202 mph at a time when Lamborghini was struggling, the Diablo helped bring back the prestige to the name.

2003-2013 Lamborghini Gallardo (LP550-4 Bicolore/Spyder, LP5740-4 Superleggerea/Spyer Performante)

As the bestselling Lamborghini, the Gallardo was a step forward from the Diablo and gave owners a comfort inside the car that many sports cars just don’t have. This series was powered by 5.2-liter V10 engines that had horsepower ranges from the mid to high 500s and offered a top speed of 201 to 202 mph.

2001-2010 Lamborghini Murcielago (LP640/LP650-4/LP670-4/Reventon)

This was truly the after Diablo bull that took over the marketplace. The Murcielago turned the scary driving of its predecessor into a smooth and exciting ride in a car that has a similar style and sport as the Diablo. this car was powered by a 6.2-liter V12 engine that brought in a top speed between 205 and 212 mph.

2010-2012 Lexus LFA

A car that was full of carbon-fiber parts, the LFA build began ten years before its release and became one of the most amazing cars for the time it was offered. This ultra-sporty Lexus offered a change to the supercar scene for Lexus and came in powered by a 552 horsepower V10 engine. With a top speed of 202 mph, this car showed of the prowess Lexus has for building high class and high quality cars.

2004-2005 Maserati MC12

A strange looking car that resembled a Ferrari Enzo the MC12 offered a larger body and a very tall rear wing which gave better downforce, but added drag to the car. This Maserati never really made a splash as only 50 were made and had Maserati spent more time actually designing the car instead of copying Ferrari it might have a higher top speed than 205 mph.

1992-1998 McLaren F1

Seriously ahead of its time, the F1 used carbon fiber, magnesium, titanium Kevlar and gold in the build. With a center-mounted steering wheel and only one seat in the front and two in the back, the F1 made quite an interesting car all the way around. Only 107 of these were ever built and the whole lineup made a serious statement by being powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine and giving a top speed between 231 and 248 mph.

2012-2014 McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren was gone from the automotive scene for several years, but came back with a car that offers a simple racing style that and a massive amount of awesome features to make it one of the most sought after cars around. The 12C was built with many carbon-fiber parts to keep the weight near 3,200 pounds and was powered by a 592 horsepower V8 engine that brings in a top speed of 207 mph.

2003-2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

What happens when two of these high powered, high quality, exotic and luxury car makers get together, the SLR McLaren is what happens? This car has great Mercedes-Benz looks and some awesome McLaren features to make a car that carries in a top speed between 209 and 220 mph.

2008-2011 Porsche 911 GT2/GT2 RS

This Porsche is fun and furious in one package. With a signature look that is unmistakably Porsche the 911 GT2 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine that shows up with 620 horsepower and a top speed of 204 to 205 mph.

2004-2007 Porsche Carrera GT

With a smooth Porsche front end, the rear of this car is completely different from what is normally seen on a Porsche. This gives plenty of room for the mid-engine V10 that is in the rear and shows off with 605 horsepower. The Carrera GT offers all-wheel drive to give more control at high speeds and shows off a top speed of 205 mph.

Cars from specialty brands that can reach 200 mph

9ff GT9

A look that is similar to the Porsche 911, the 9ff GT9 claims to be able to perform to reflect the personality of the driver. I’m not sure about a car that can be considered a “mood car” but this car carries in a serious power showing up at 1400 horsepower with the Porsche twin-turbo flat-six in the middle of the car instead of the rear. At only 2,500 pounds this car is light and can reach top speeds between 254 and 271 mph.

Ascari Ecosse/KZ1/A10

A three country combination brings this car to life the first version of this car, the KZ1 had a V8 from the BMW M5 that was mounted longitudinally in the middle and offered a 500 horsepower output. The new version, the A10 has the same engine but adds 125 horsepower. Even though this car has never made it to production it offers a top speed between 201 and 220 mph.

Bristol Fighter T

As a very small car with a V10 Viper engine inside the Bristol looks like a throwback version of an old AMG. This V10 in this very small package does pack a huge punch though, coming in with a top speed of 225 mph.

Caparo T1

This is the car to get if you want to have a car that is as close to Formula 1 driving as possible. This car is a true race car and is powered by a 3.5-liter V8 engine that shows up with 575 horsepower and a top speed of 205 mph.

Cizea-Moroder V16T

A very odd looking device is the best way to describe the look of the V16T. This car has a front end wedge design to cut through the wind, but the rear end that shows what it should be, a sports car with plenty of downforce. The concept was ok, but instead of an actual V16, this engine is two transversely mounted flat V8’s that are shoved in the middle of the car. With that said, the V16T does reach a top speed of 204 mph making its way on this list.

Gumpert Apollo

As an engineering marvel, but a designers nightmare the Apollo is an ugly but obviously well engineered sports car that carries an awful name. The rumor is this car can be driven upside down in a tunnel once 190 mph has been reached (I’m not sure how you could actually test that) and it offers a top speed of 224 mph with the still awful name.

Hennessey Venom GT

As a Lotus Exige that has simply been lengthened, the Hennessey Venom GT is a gorgeous car that shows up with a 1,244 horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 that offers a massive top speed between 265 and 270 mph. This is quite an American dream model, having a Texan create a car that can run that fast. It’s no wonder it’s a lengthened Lotus, because at the saying goes “everything is bigger in Texas”.

Koenigsegg Agera/R/One:1 CCR/CCX/CCXR

As a car with many letters in the name (most of which I can’t pronounce), this is one truly awesome Swedish sports car. Whit race car good looks, a low front splitter and amazing details this car just screams fast and with a top speed between 240 and 273 mph, this car is seriously exciting (although I think the name needs some work).

Noble M600

This car offers a bit of a more understood styling and looks a bit like an older model Ferrari. With a mid-mounted engine that comes in the form of a Volvo twin-turbo V8 that offers up 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission this car shows up with a top speed of 225 mph.

Pagani Huayra

Looking like it took styling cues from an insect the Huayra is powered by a 720 horsepower twin-turbocharged V12 from AMG. This car offers active aerodynamics and makes its way around a course in sensational speed along with offering a very enticing top speed of 230 mph.

Pagani Zonda

Now this offering from Pagani looks more like a super sports car should than the Huayra (I still think that means insect). The Zonda is powered by a 400 horsepower Mercedes V12 engine that allows this car to reach a top speed between 208 and 217 mph.

Ruf CTR Yellowbird

This little car comes from Ruf which takes Porsches and beefs them up. The Yellowbird looks like a dialed down taxi even though it’s actually an older model 911. This car will give serious speed even with its cartoon-like looks and comes in with a top speed of 211 mph.

Saleen S7/TT

As the first American production supercar the Saleen S7 uses a 351 Windsor V8 engine that brings in 550 horsepower with the twin-turbocharged TT version bringing that production up to 750 horsepower. The overall look is sleek, stylish, sporty and seriously ready to take on challengers giving a top speed between 200 and 248 mph.

Weber Faster One

With an odd wave-like shape the Weber Faster One is very interesting. This car has four fuel tanks to give a lower center of gravity and better weight distribution. The 5.6-liter force-fed V10 gives an impressive 1,200 horsepower and the car is built with all-wheel drive for more control. The Faster One has a top speed of 248 mph.

SSC Ultimate Aero/TT

Another American supercar the Aero/TT shows a great style that is sort of cut off at the front. This car is powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine that produces 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque to give this Washington State native car a top speed between 256 and 257 mph.

Zenvo ST1

With only 15 of these in existence and a not so impressive showing on the BBC show “Top Gear” the ST1 is a gorgeous car that looks fast and is powered by a 7.0-liter V8 engine that offers up more than 1,100 horsepower. This car has a top speed of 233 mph to show off.

With this amazing list of cars that can reach 200 mph and beyond you can see this club has had many more members in recent years than in the past. These cars are the absolute height of performance and precision engineering to make the most of aerodynamics, downforce, and airflow to gain the fastest speed for production cars on the planet. The only decision for someone who actually is looking to buy one is “which one” for the rest of us; we will have to settle for poster in our rooms and garages.
