The GL550 offers the 4.6-liter twin turbocharged V8 which has 429 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque along with a fuel mileage of 13 city/18 hwy mpg. At the top of the lineup the GL63 AMG comes in with a 5.5-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine which produces 550 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque along with a 13 city/17 hwy mpg. Even at the large size of this SUV these gas powered engines can make the run to sixty mph in less than six seconds, which shows a massive amount of power.
At the base model the GL is well-equipped offering heated front seats, dual zone climate control, a sunroof, a power tailgate, power folding third row of seats, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, the mbrace2 system, crosswind stabilization and the driver alert system. The options come in with the premium Harman/Kardon sound system, soft close doors, a heated wood and leather steering wheel, a night vision assist system, blind spot monitoring, a navigation system, tri-zone climate control, the On/Off Road package with a two-speed transfer case, a six-mode drive selector and underbody protection.
