The Porsche that Fits the Needs of Many Crowds

Mission E

To preface this discussion let’s think about what many different crowds may desire in their car.  For a family that has at least four members cars need to have four doors and the ability to carry the whole family, for a speed demon the car needs to be planted, powerful and agile to enjoy some great track time.  For other groups, such as those looking for a green car the car needs to use as few fossil fuels as possible and even run on renewable energy as much as it can, and for those who want a luxury cars want lots of great features for their cars.

Porsche has found a way to excite and address the desires of all these groups because, let’s face it, many of us fit into more than one of those categories; we are only human.  The new offering from Porsche will be the Mission E which will be a car that takes on the all-electric world and stands it on its head.  With the name of Porsche behind the project not only should you stand up and pay attention, but you must realize the exceptional nature of this car and what it will be for us on the market.

The Mission E is expected to have a total output of 600 horsepower and accelerate to sixty mph in less than 3.5 seconds while offering 310 miles of range on a single charge.  This car will also have four doors and offer the amazing style and pure sport grace that makes it a true Porsche model.  The charging can be done by using an 800-volt charge that will charge the car from the empty position of the batteries to 80 percent in only fifteen minutes.  For those who want to really take advantage of some increased tech, the charging can be done with a wireless induction system that is installed into the garage floor of your home.

The overall investment expected for this project is in the neighborhood of 700 million euros but that will help to build a new paint shop and assembly plant to be the place where the production of electric motors will take place for Porsche going forward.  The expected timeline for the release of the Mission E is near 2020, but could easily be moved up if needed and considering how much closer Tesla is coming to overtaking this driving range it might be necessary.

With the Mission E on the horizon you can see how many other super sports car manufacturers are being put on notice to build their own all-electric models.  This new Mission E should prove to be one of the absolute quickest cars we have ever seen, but with the addition of the tech available and the charging this will most likely be another car for the ultra-rich, but those who can afford it will certainly have an amazing four-door all-electric sports car that will be perfect for driving anywhere, especially on the track.
