The Insight Returns for Honda

When we think of a hybrid model that was one of the first to be a popular model and offer us the right way to save on fuel, the Honda Insight often gets overlooked but it’s the one that started the modern movement toward fuel-saving technology. Even though this model has been removed from the lineup for a few years, Honda has decided it’s time to bring the Insight name back to the lineup to give us a new version of the hybrid model that you want to enjoy driving on the roads in your area.
A new version of the Honda Insight made its way to the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in a prototype form to give us a view of what this new model will likely look like. What we saw at this show was the Insight could easily be a comfortable and useful sedan that offers us the driving performance and qualities we’re looking for when it’s time to head out on the road. This new hybrid model is expected to offer us the fuel mileage we want that will give us everything we want when we get behind the wheel and take a drive.

How Efficient Can the Insight Be?

When the new Honda Insight makes its way to the market later this year, the plan is for this car to offer as much as 50 mpg. This mileage wasn’t specified to be for the city, the highway, or a combined number, but that would certainly make many of us who want to save fuel on a regular basis extremely happy. As part of the hybrid sedan market, the new Insight will also offer us the benefit of the most interior space in the class to give enough room for five adults to be extremely comfortable during the ride.

The power for the new Insight comes from a two-motor hybrid drivetrain that makes use of a 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine combined with a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. When you look inside the new Insight, the new eight-inch touchscreen for the infotainment center takes up the center of the dashboard to give you the look you want to enjoy. There is also a seven-inch instrument cluster that’s programmable to allow you to have the gauges in front of you that will allow you to have the readings you want.

This car is expected to offer you the benefits of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a new in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity. The safety you’ll enjoy will come from the included HondaSensing suite of advanced driver assistance features that make the drive much easier for you. This new model will make the drive right for you and will be built alongside the Civic and CR-V at the Greensburg, IN plant. Look for the new Insight to be offered for the next model year to allow us to have the hybrid drive we want on the roads we make use of every single day.
