More Drivers Can Handle this Camaro

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

When it first arrived on the scene, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE was thought to be a car that would be only suited to the hardcore track drivers that prowled the loops around the world.
Because of this, Chevrolet only offered this amazing sports car with a manual transmission when it first arrived. The thought was that you needed to be able to row your own gears in order to make this car the right one for you to have the drive and the fun offered by the most incredible version of the Camaro.

Making a Change that Makes Sense

Whether the Chevy team realized they were leaving some customers out of the mix, or they simply wanted to see what this hardcore Camaro could do if it was to have an automatic transmission, the ZL1 1LE is now going to be offered with an excellent ten-speed automatic transmission for the shifting you’ want to experience. Starting in February, you’ll be able to order this Chevy Camaro with the automatic and won’t have to be bothered with searching for your own gears when you take it to the track to rip off some fast laps.

More Speed in this Camaro for You

Recently, Ford introduced us to the new Mustang GT500 which will only be offered with an automatic transmission for the drive. Thankfully, the Camaro ZL1 1LE will continue to give you the choice of a six-speed manual or the ten-speed automatic for your drive. The version that uses the automatic transmission was able to be 0.5 seconds faster around the 2.9-mile Milford Proving Grounds test track. This added speed comes from the faster shifts and the availability of more gears in the Camaro with the ten-speed attached to this massive engine.

More Improvements Were Made for this Camaro

Just changing out the transmission isn’t enough to turn this Camaro into one that can handle the use of an automatic. The speedy shifts are dealt with by using specially tuned DSSV dampers and special cooling for the steering box. The electronic limited slip differential and traction management systems have also been upgraded to make it possible for this car to be able to handle the job of driving at faster speeds on the track. These upgrades make it possible for this Camaro to have all the equipment needed for an amazing ride and a fast lap.

This new Camaro Setup Begs a Question

We already know the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE was able to rip off one of the fastest laps around the Nurburgring track in Germany. Because this new version of the car was able to beat the old time at the test track the idea that it could make its way around this track with a faster time is certainly something we can surmise. The question, of course, is, whether or not the new Camaro is going to make a run at the lap time and be able to show off a faster lap than the manual model of this amazing car.
