The Sales Leader Continues

2015 F-Series

For decades the F-Series pickup trucks have been leading the way over all other trucks.  The F-Series trucks are the best choice for so many because they are so versatile and have become favorites overall.  Nearly every year you can buy an F-Series pickup that has been customized to your specifications to fit your needs.  Whether you need a truck that feels like a luxury vehicle, one for hard work, or one built to take on the outdoor trails found across the country, the F-Series trucks have fit the bill and given us the trucks that we love.

Our love for the F-Series trucks has been obvious with the great sales over the years, which continues to be the case in 2015.  For the first half of this year this platform has sold 357,180 units, putting it squarely in the front spot.  This is actually a huge lead over the second best-selling truck the Chevrolet Silverado which is behind the F-Series by 81,358 for the first half of the year.  Even with this huge lead in sales, the F-Series is in danger of slowing down due to a shortage they are currently experiencing for this platform.

As you have seen, the F-Series trucks have benefitted from the aluminum frame build which gives better fuel mileage, more power, and a lighter truck that is still as strong as the previous all steel builds.  There is now a shortage of these frames, causing a slowdown in the production process at Ford.  This could really be detrimental to the overall sales of this truck and has already shown itself to be a problem as the June sales for the F-Series were only 3,623 more than the Silverado.  This number is down 8.9 percent over the same month last year while the Silverado sales are up 18.4 percent over last year.

Pulling up the third spot is the Ram truck which has 212,716 units sold so far this year and steady June sales.  The Sierra sits at 100,850 units sold which when combined with the Silverado comes in at 376,672 units for GM which is 19,492 more than the F-Series.  Bringing up the rear in the full sized truck segment is the Toyota Tundra at 61,014 and Nissan Titan at 6,049.  Take these numbers to mean what you want, but its obvious the F-Series and GM models are still the favorites overall.

In the midsized segment, just to give a full look and more interest, the Toyota Tacoma is the leader 88,801 units with the Chevrolet Colorado coming in at 41,575 units and the Frontier shows up at 34,805.  Helping to boost the GM part of the segment, the Canyon has sales this year of 15,017 so far, giving quite a boost for GM, but still not quite able to reach the heights the Tacoma has already.  With the F-Series and the Tacoma leading their respective segments and the new introduction of the Colorado and Canyon as well as the shortage of aluminum frames for the F-Series, the truck selling contest is afoot and halfway through with several possible outcomes; stay tuned to see how the year finishes out.
