2016 Nissan Murano: An SUV with Serious Style

03.17.16 - 2016 Nissan Murano

What do you look for in an SUV? Good price, fun to drive, capabilities, AWD; if these are what you want in your SUV the Murano makes a great choice. Not only does Nissan Murano fit the bill for all these needs it’s also an extremely stylish SUV to give you the ability to have a vehicle that looks amazing along with being one that is great to drive. This SUV allows you to enjoy the features you might expect on a higher model vehicle while giving you a price you can afford in a vehicle you want to drive every day.

This is a vehicle Nissan has told us is a sociable machine, but it also spends its time on the road pleasing you by offering the ride you want. The responsiveness and acceleration make it simple to enjoy the ride and the suspension is made to handle rough roads as well as help make this a confident vehicle to drive when the weather turns foul. The Murano is considered the social lounge of the SUV world, but it will make a great family hauler too when you need it to take you and the kids on an adventure for the weekend.

When you look at the price of the Murano, it’s an SUV that is hard to pass up. This SUV starts out at $30,500 but can reach up over $42,000 for a fully loaded Platinum trim. The SL trim is a good choice in the middle at $38,000 but any level of the Murano is going to give you a vehicle that has a nice list of features for you to enjoy along with the ride you are looking for from a reasonably powerful powertrain that can get this SUV moving.

Speaking of powertrains, like many other SUVs there is only one for the Murano. It starts with the 3.5-liter V6 engine that brings in 260 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque. Attached to a CVT automatic transmission you might expect this to be a bargain basement feeling ride, but Nissan has perfected the CVT to give us the Xtronic with D-Step Logic which makes it feel more like a traditional transmission. This pair together returns fuel mileage of 21 city/28 hwy mpg for both the FWD and the AWD versions which means you only have to make a decision regarding the need and cost of the AWD over the FWD when you buy your new Murano.

What is the Nissan Murano? This is an SUV that is easily recognized for its looks and features and has been one of the favorites in the Nissan lineup for a few years now. For the 2016 model year this SUV is essentially unchanged from last year to give you another shot at an SUV that is great to drive. The only drawback to this SUV is the fact that it’s on the small size so if you need to haul lots of people or gear the Pathfinder will be the right choice.

When you look to the interior of this vehicle you will find a car that is comfortable and inviting. The seating is roomy and relaxing but there is only room for four to fit comfortably and five when you need to. The flowing lines of the car give you the feeling of something that is modern and maybe even futuristic. With this flowing design you will enjoy the seven inch display for your gauges and the eight inch touch screen for your entertainment system to give you the controls you want from the right place in the vehicle.

Have you seen this SUV? The roof appears to be floating above the windows, the rear window offers an interesting point in the middle to give it a visual appeal and the front has the floating V-Motion grill that looks great and gives you the shape you want to see. This is an SUV you won’t miss anywhere. You will have a strong desire to drive the Murano just to see what it’s made of and figure out if it’s a vehicle for speed, sport or utility that will give you the ride you want and expect.

Starting at the base S trim the features you will enjoy in the Murano includes Advanced Drive-Assist Display with a seven-inch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview monitor, Nissan Intelligent Key with push button starting, dual zone automatic climate control, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, three 12-volt outlets, cloth seating, reclining rear seatbacks with a center armrest, an audio system with six speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, speed sensitive volume control, steering wheel audio and cruise controls, Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, 18-inch alloy wheels, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps and a full suite of occupant protection features.
