Checking Some Boxes in the Ford Escape

If you’re in the market for a new compact SUV for the drive you’re looking for on the roads you drive, the Ford Escape model for 2018 could be the right choice for you. This is an attractive crossover SUV that has been one of the most popular models for you to drive and certainly is a vehicle that many families have made use of when they need to have an SUV for their daily needs. Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of the new Escape and see if it can check the right boxes for you.

Pros

Acceleration – The Escape can be had with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that offers you 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. This vehicle can reach sixty mph in 7.1 seconds to make it one of the leaders in the class when it comes to the acceleration you need. You’ll love this quality when you have to get into traffic and up to speed in a hurry.
Several Engines – As a Ford, you can expect and certainly choose from several engines for the drive. You can choose a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder option or the previously mentioned engine. This gives you a range of power options and all three engines are mated to an excellent six-speed automatic transmission for the drive.

Driver Assistance Features – When you reach up to the higher trim levels you’ll find several features you can enjoy such as advanced active park assist, adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, adaptive headlights, and automatic emergency braking. These items are able to give you what you’re looking for when you get out on the roads with others around you.

Cons

Styling – This is an SUV that’s been around for a few years and it’s been one that we’ve seen on the roads for a while, which might signify this SUV needs to be updated. If you like the look and want to have this SUV, the style might not be a problem for you at all, but this SUV is certainly a conservatively styled model that could have you on either side of the fence.

Infotainment – Even though the Sync 3 system was recently improved to be what you see in this SUV, the systems from FCA and GM are a bit better. You do have the benefits of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and this system is much more responsive than its previous versions. You might notice the speeder response of this system if you had the older Sync system.

Rear Leg Room – As a compact SUV this is one place that many SUVs have trouble in this class. The leg room in the rear of the Escape is acceptable, but it’s not as large or as generous as some of the other models that are offered on the market. This is why you need to take a test drive to see if this is the SUV you can enjoy driving on the roads in your area.

Does it check the boxes for you? What’s most important to you for the drive you need to make? If you’re looking for an SUV that has the engine choices, acceleration, and features that lead the class, the Ford Escape could be the right choice for you. Take this SUV out for a test drive and let it check off the boxes that are important to you. Make sure you test those items that are considered cons and see if they are items you can live with before you make your final decision.
