This New McLaren 600LT Will Make You Drool

The McLaren team has created a track-ready performance car that’s based on the 570S that we love and admire. Adding a new model to the growing ‘Long Tail’ series of vehicles offered, McLaren has created the new 600LT to be a model that can follow in the footsteps of the 675lT and be a car that can be a lot of fun on the track. This car is one that promises to offer you a lower weight, more power and more grip than the model that it’s based on.

Getting Under the Hood

Well, actually, we’re taking a look at the area behind the seats where the engine resides. The 600LT is powered by the engine that we’ve admired and known for the McLaren models for several years. This car makes use of a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that has been upgraded from 562 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque of the 570S to give you a full 592 ponies and 457 lb.-ft. of twist. This makes it possible for you to have the fun and active drive you want when you head out on the track to show off.

In addition to more power, the new 600LT is a car that has an upgraded cooling system, and a reworked exhaust that’s been shortened by being relocated from the rear to the engine cover. The transmission attached to the engine is the same seven-speed dual clutch model that’s found in the 570S for the performance shifting needed. These performance changes along with the engine upgrades make it easy for you to have a car that can be quick around the track in order to keep you where you want to be; at the front of the pack when you’re comparing lap times with your friends.

More Performance for the Fun

The weight of the new 600LT is 240 pounds less than the 570S with the use of the carbon fiber and lightweight options that are offered. This means you can have carbon fiber body panels, optional carbon fiber seats, an optional carbon fiber roof, and a lightweight braking system. There’s a new aero kit that includes a new front splitter, side sills, an extended rear diffuser, and a large fixed rear wing which helps make it easier for you to handle this car when you head out to the track.

If you’re serious about making the purchase of the new 600LT from McLaren you’re going to need to get in line right now. This car will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and it will be sold and built in extremely limited numbers. The production is going to begin in October and last only twelve months. With the lower position of the car on the track, the lighter build, and the increase in power this is a car that can certainly capture your attention, entice your imagination, and take you around the track as fast as your skills can handle.
