Essential Commuters, Delivery Vehicles, or Weekly Grocery Visits
Whether you only drive to the grocery once a week, commute to work as normal, or drive for a delivery service it is extremely important the protect yourself and others by taking the necessary precautions. When it comes to your car that means thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the surfaces that you might come into contact with.
While using chemicals like bleach, household cleaners, and hydrogen peroxide might work excellently in your home, they could potentially damage the surfaces in your vehicle. Especially if your vehicle has a touch screen infotainment screen. If cleaned improperly you could be looking at a hefty repair bill. Instead of using abrasive cleaners this should only have a small amount of soap and water used and completely dried off with a microfiber cloth afterward. For most of the other surfaces in your vehicle, it is recommended to either use soap and water or alcohol-based sprays and wipes containing at least 70% alcohol.
Nissan has provided a list of surfaces in your vehicle that should be regularly disinfected:
- Steering wheel
- Key and remote fob
- Exterior door handles, both sides
- Trunk lid or lift gate grab areas
- Interior door pulls, both sides and interior door panels
- Start button, if equipped
- Rearview mirror, back, and edges
- Heat and AC vents
- Gear selector
- Turn signal lever
- Windshield wiper controls
- Center stackknobs
- Center console and armrest
- Seat belt and buckle. Avoid harsh cleaners on the belt itself, they can degrade the fibers and the belt’s strength
- Parking brake handle, parking brake or release lever
- Seat adjustment controls
- Gasoline filler cap and interior gas door release.
