The 2023 GMC Canyon Prototype Teases Many Exciting Features

GMC Dealer

For trucks lovers everywhere and GMC fanatics, it should be common knowledge by now that GMC is making some serious new developments to the new 2023 GMC canyon.

As every pickup truck supplier in the United States will be eager to make improvements and prove to be the most inventive and innovative, GMC is making massive headway, but they are not revealing their secrets just yet.

On the surface, literally, it seems as though GMC is preparing for an off-road and on-road exterior option for their customers. We don’t know for sure what all of the advancements being made at this current moment in time are, but we have a few gut feelings about what is to come in this new model. Before we get to that, let’s take a look at the current model, the 2022 GMC Canyon.

The 2022 GMC Canyon

Without getting into too much detail, the 2022 GMC is a one model on GMC’s lineup of small pickup trucks. We know GMC is capable of producing the biggest and strongest pickups out there, but they want us to know that they can make smaller trucks, too.

The 2022 GMC Canyon has three different trim options and they are as follows: The Canyon Elevation, the Canyon AT4, and the Canyon Denali. The Canyon is capable of much, despite its smaller size.

Each trim has its own design and price point, but the exteriors do not vary at all (unless you count the AT4’s Red Front Recovery Hooks and each trim’s signature grill designs).

What is considerably different in these trims is the design of the AT4. You can’t see it on the exterior but the trim is designed with an Off-Road Suspension Package with 31″ Goodyear® Wrangler Duratrac® Tires and comes with 4WD (the others do not have 4WD). To say the least, the AT4 is made for the off-roading kind of driver.

Our Thoughts On the GMC Canyon Prototype

Photos of the 2023 GMC prototype suggest that GMC plans to release multiple trims yet again, this time with an off-road and on-road focus. Notably, with photos showing the 2023 Canyon AT4X, there are new details such as production lights with LED fixtures above them and the hood, which displays new styling lines, giving the AT4X a more muscular look.

Other photos revealing the prototype suggest that maybe this GMC Canyon is not the new AT4X like we thought, but maybe they are changing the look of its on-road trim. We see the 2023 GMC Canyon prototype with different sized wheels than we are used to on the AT4X, suggesting that maybe this is not the off-roading vehicle we initially thought.

Regardless, we can still see that GMC is making improvements to this model, starting with the vehicle’s additional 2 inches of ground clearance and a high-clearance front bumper. Until GMC officially releases the new Canyon’s specs, we can only speculate on its new upgrades.
