The dollar amount over new is an eye-popping $62,705. This chunky SUV definitely stands out on the road, but it currently takes the cake as the most expensive used vehicle out there compared to a brand-new version.

Chevrolet Corvette

As probably the most iconic American sports car, it’s no surprise that the Chevrolet Corvette is pretty pricey when it’s new. But currently, used versions of the Corvette cost up to 20.2% more than a new Corvette. A used Corvette might cost around $16,645 over a new Corvette. When it comes to these high prices for used cars, it’s important to remember that they apply to used vehicles that are only a few years older than the current model year. For example, you could go back a few generations of the Corvette and find one for a reasonable price.

Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is a sporty-looking four-door EV car that is known for having a high price tag when new. Used versions of this car now cost up to 17.8% more than a new model. This works out to roughly $8,300 more than a new model. Prices for used cars are up across the board, with the average year-old used model costing around 1.3% more than a new model, but some cars, like the Model 3, cost more on average when they’re only a year or two old.

Ford Bronco Sport

The Ford Bronco Sport is currently up 16.4% in price as a used model versus a new model. This works out to a year-old Bronco Sport costing $5,766 more than a new model. The Ford Bronco Sport comes in a wide variety of trims, including the Big Bend, base trim, Outer Banks, and Badlands. If you’re looking for a used model, your best bet for an affordable version is the base trim.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Chevrolet Trailblazer might be the most surprising model on this list. Most of the previously listed models are already pricey as new models, and the Ford Bronco is a trendy model that doesn’t have many model years under its belt. Nevertheless, the lightly-used Trailblazer is up 15.6% over a new model and costs about $4,270 more as a used SUV than a brand-new one.

When Will Prices on Used Cars Come Back to Earth?

These are the top five most expensive used cars, but other used models with high prices right now include the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, the Chevrolet Suburban, and the Toyota Tacoma. 

We keep hearing that prices on used cars are coming down—or soon will be. Whether that means prices on many of these models will level off remains to be seen.
