A new Hardbody Edition package will be part of the Nissan Frontier lineup for 2024 bringing back a classic body configuration for this midsize pickup truck.
The Hardbody badge has been on the shelf since 1997, but it was an extremely popular badge in the 1980s and 1990s. This new announcement brings back qualities that made this name popular and impressive during those two decades. The new Nissan Hardbody Edition will be part of the lineup for the Frontier, providing a bit of nostalgia to a modern truck. Will this new package add more to what you want in your midsize truck? Let’s find out.
What does the Hardbody Edition include?
This new package pays tribute to the popularity of the name from the 1980s. It includes a new set of 17-inch wheels that offer similar design elements as the original model. These wheels wear all-terrain tires, giving this pickup the trail-riding capability desired. You’ll also see a few retro decals, a sports bar, and black exterior trim. The black exterior trim is reminiscent of the unpainted bumpers from the original Hardbody. This package is available as a limited edition package for the SV Crew Cab 4WD trim and it adds $3,890 to the price of this trim.
There’s another addition to the Frontier
In addition to the new Nissan Frontier Hardbody Edition, this midsize truck lineup is expanded with a new SL Crew Cab model. This new trim is now the top level offered for this Nissan pickup truck. The SL trim comes with standard LED lights, leather-wrapped seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. You’ll also find a new 10-speaker Fender audio system in the SL Crew Cab model of the Frontier. This new top trim starts at $42,640, and it could be the trim that has everything you’re looking for in a midsize pickup.
What powers the Frontier?
The current generation of the Nissan Frontier is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. This engine mates to a 9-speed automatic transmission to send power to either the rear wheels or all four in the 4WD versions. This midsize pickup is offered in King Cab and Crew Cab body styles, across the S, SV, Pro-X, Pro-4X, and now SL trims. Some models have 6-foot beds, while others include a shorter, 5-foot bed for the stuff you need to carry with you.
What’s the starting point for this Nissan truck?
The Nissan Frontier has a new Hardbody Edition, but it’s not available at all trim levels. If you choose the base S trim, you won’t find this package offered. Still, the base model could be a great choice for some drivers. This pickup truck includes:

The Frontier SV Crew Cab is the sweet spot
Unless you want to head to the top SL trim or choose one of the off-road-focused versions, the Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab is the sweet spot for this truck. This is also where the Hardbody Edition package can be added to the mix. The SV Crew Cab model gives you:
- 17-inch alloy wheels
- Tire pressure monitoring
- 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
- 6-speaker audio system
- Power outboard mirrors

This trim level is eligible for the SV Convenience Package, Technology Package, and the SV Premium Package. These packages give you:
