Spanish Automotive Site Hints at Future Mercedes-Benz AMG GT

Mercedes-Benz is cooking up several new models for the next model year. One of these could be the next version of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT.

More than 15 new models coming out of the Mercedes-Benz factories will be facelifted or offered for the very first time during 2023. We’re not sure of sales or release dates in the United States because some of the models hinted at on the Spanish site Periodismo del Motor are already on sale in the U.S. Among the new models hinted at, we see an AMG GT, which would be a cool upgrade for a classic name.

What models should be upgraded this year?

With Mercedes-Benz expanding to include its new electric vehicle lineup and several models hitting the end of their current generations, we’ll see a large number of new vehicles hitting the market. Although we don’t know exactly when, we should see a new E-Class sedan, GLC Coupe, CLE, GLE, GLS, GLA, GLB, A-Class, B-Class, CLA-Class, GLS 600 Maybach, AMG One, and of course, the new AMG GT. That’s a long list of names that could easily provide us with a relatively new lineup from the Mercedes-Benz brand.

What should the next AMG GT offer?

The next Mercedes-Benz AMG GT will bring many of the qualities we admire in the Mercedes-AMG SL Roadster but with a 2+2 layout in a coupe version. This is something different than what we see in the current generation of this car. The engine will also be the same for the SL Roadster and the AMG GT, giving this new GT the power it deserves. The new hardtop GT should also receive a PHEV model with the AMG E Performance qualities that make it more fun and active on the road or track.

What does the current version give us?

The current AMG GT doesn’t have any sportscar roots. Instead, it’s based on the E-Class wagon, giving it the right platform to transition to a wonderful performance machine. Although it uses the E-Class as a foundation, it behaves like a two-seater coup out on the road. There are currently three variations of this incredible car, the GT43, GT53, and GT63. You’ll find impressive handling, sporty styling, and an aggressive feeling when you step into this Mercedes-Benz performance machine. As expected, the cabin is well-crafted, bringing some fine materials to your drive with loads of luxury conveniences.

High-performance versions were added for 2023

Although the Spanish website hints at a new version of the AMG GT for this year, it shouldn’t arrive early. The V8-powered GT63 and GT63 S models just came back into the lineup for 2023 after taking a break for one year. These high-performance variants bring impressive styling updates and extra power to deliver the goods. The most powerful version of this luxury car is the GT63 S E-Performance which offers an incredible 830 horsepower from the combination 8-cylinder engine and PHEV hybrid system.

Can you get a great drive in a lower version?

It’s not necessary to go for the gusto and drive the top model of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. Instead, you can easily find the power and performance desired in the mid-range GT53. This car offers ample horsepower, a pleasant driving experience, and can be had with the benefits of the Warmth and Comfort Package. This package brings you a heated steering wheel, heated front armrests, and rapid-heating elements for the front seats. It might also behoove you to add the Driver Assistance package, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.

How much power does the current AMG GT include?

The power system of the GT43 and GT53 models is quite complicated. This system starts with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, but it includes a turbocharger, an intercooler, an electric supercharger, and a small electric motor. This combination ensures you have 429 horsepower in the GT53 model giving you acceleration to 60 mph in only 4.1 seconds.

The GT63 uses a strong 4.0-liter V8 with two turbocharged in the V, which makes 575 horsepower in the regular model. The GT63 S cranks up the power to 630 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds.

Will you wait or go for the current model?

You could wait to see what the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT offers, or you could easily enjoy the benefits of the current version with tons of power. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this performance luxury car.
