The renaming of the entire lineup for Infiniti offers a look into the hierarchy of the vehicles. The Q70, formerly known as the M is the mid-sized luxury sedan offering from Infiniti that shows up with a fully luxurious interior, fantastic horsepower and the available all-wheel drive to give on the premier luxury sedans a leg up on all the competition. The Q70 is offered in two wheel bases, a standard wheelbase version and a long wheelbase to give drivers the space they need for their rear seat occupants to enjoy the ride as much as the driver enjoys the drive.
The Q70 competes in the mid-sized luxury segment with stout rivals such as the Lexus GS and Acura RLX. The car itself looks chic from the outside with a bit of an understated styling, but inside and under that modest skin lays the heart of a lion and the equipment and technology to make any tech lover salivate. For the 2015 model, the Q70 adds the long wheelbase which adds 5.6 inches of legroom in the rear seat, the Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection as an option and Forward Emergency Braking and Backup Collision Intervention have been added to the Technology Package.
With dynamic acceleration and a ready to go attitude, the Q70 is kept under control and stuck to the road by use of an advanced suspension system which quells any road defects easily. To add to the control features, the highly responsive steering system feels as if it could drive the car for any drive and allows the Q70 to be a treat to drive along any winding road or canyon run the driver can find. Of course the Infiniti badge could not be placed on the car unless it had superior noise cancellation technology aboard, which it does, giving occupants a peaceful ride listening to their favorite music.
Three engines make up the lineup for the Q70, all of which are attached to a seven-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The standard set up is rear-wheel drive, but the car can be set up with all-wheel drive in all but the hybrid models.
The first engine is a 3.7-liter V6 offering up 330 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. This powertrain will give owners a decent fuel mileage to enjoy at 18 city/26 hwy mpg for the RWD models and 16 city/23 hwy for the AWD versions.
Next is the workhorse of the group which is a 5.6-liter V8 that brings the heat at 420 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. of torque. This model shows up with a modest change in fuel mileage and is the best choice for those looking for more power. The fuel mileage for this powertrain comes in at 16 city/24 hwy mpg for the RWD model and 16 city/23 hwy mpg for the AWD version.
Finally the third engine is the hybrid version of the Q70 which is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with the assistance of an electric motor. The net horsepower of these two working together shows up at 360 and this version gives a fuel mileage of 27 city/32 hwy mpg.
On the inside of the Q70 sits a well-designed and attractive cockpit full of controls for the driver and soft and luscious seats all around. The space inside makes this model open and inviting, especially in the longer wheelbase version and allows all passengers to fully appreciate and enjoy the ride. The luxury features to enjoy inside include a high end Bose Surround Sound system and leather seating that help make the ride as luxurious as possible.
On the outside, the Q70 is a modest in appearance, but elegant in style. The fine lines and curves that adorn the outside of this car make the eye move and flow as if these lines will never end. The front fascia of the car offers a bit of a snub nosed look with a haughty front grill that carries the definitive symbol of style for all to marvel at. The flanking headlights are swept back neatly to start the transition across the body and to the rear of this finely crafted automobile.
The standard features offered on the Infiniti Q70 show up including the Driver Mode Selector which allows the driver to adjust the throttle mapping and transmission shift points depending on the four different settings, Standard, Eco, Sport or Snow. More features of the car that come standard are leather seats, USB connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity and keyless entry on the base model. The V8 models receive and upgrade by adding the Bose ten-speaker sound system, a navigation system and Sirius XM weather and traffic alerts. All models feature safety equipment from the active head restraints and six airbags which are designed to help keep all safe in case of a collision.
The optional features of the Q70 come in a variety of packages including the Premium, Deluxe, Touring and Technology packages. The Technology Package has added Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection along with Forward Emergency Braking and Backup Collision Intervention. Other features offered include a sixteen-speaker Bose Surround Sound system, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention and Blind Spot Warning and Intervention. The Deluxe Technology Package has all features mentioned plus semi-aniline leather, White Ash silver-powered wood trim and stitching on the instrument cluster hood.
The Infiniti Q70 shows up with a reasonable base price for this class of vehicle coming in at $49,850 for the RWD model and the AWD asking for $52,000. The V8 models start off with a price at $62,850 for the RWD and the AWD brings the price to a $63,350 price point. The hybrid version starts at $55,900 for owners who are looking for more fuel economy from the Q70. The Q70 offers owners everything they could want in a mid-sized luxury sedan except great fuel mileage. The drive, feel and look of this car make it a favorite for luxury car owners to fully enjoy.
