If you’re looking for the right vehicle for you to drive and you only need two rows of seats you’d be hard pressed to beat the Ford Edge. This SUV offers you the space you need for passengers and cargo to ride along in a sedan type of drive that’s much smoother than other vehicles in this class. The fact is the Ford Edge offers a premium feeling that will make you think it’s in a much higher class than it actually is. The stance of the Edge is a squat one to give you the balance you need from a wide and substantial base as you drive along.
With Ford you always feel like you have several different engine options and this is one that gives you three to choose from. The Edge starts you out with the base engine which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder that’s found in the SE, SEL and Titanium models. This engine produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. All three engines you find for the Edge use the smooth shifting six-speed automatic transmission to give you a great ride and with this small engine you have the fuel mileage of 20 city/30 hwy mpg in the FWD models and 20 city/28 hwy mpg for the AWD versions.
The next engine is a 3.5-liter V6 which you can have on the SEL or Titanium trims. This engine is capable of giving you 280 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. While using the same transmission you will enjoy the benefit of 18 city/26 hwy mpg for FWD versions and 17 city/25 hwy mpg in the AWD models. At the top of the engine lineup we have the 2.7-liter twin turbocharged V6 which is only made for the Sport model. You will have 315 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque if this is the one you choose. This engine is only set up in AWD and returns 17 city/24 hwy mpg for you. The smaller two engines have a two rating of 3,500 pounds with the Sport model offering only a 2,000 pound tow rating.
When you want a roomy and versatile midsize SUV, the Ford Edge is the right choice for you. With only two rows of seats you are limited to then number of people that can ride along, but this does give you more room for the gear you a may want to bring with you. For 2017 the Edge only received minor upgrades and changes because it was just revised two years ago. Ford has added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the Sync 3 infotainment system for you to have improved connectivity.
Looking to the standard items you can have on the Edge, the fact that there are four trim levels gives you the idea that you can have a lot of great equipment on this vehicle. Starting at the SE model you will have keyless entry, push button starting, a rearview camera, 18-inch wheels, the basic Sync infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system with a UB port and Bluetooth connectivity. Moving up to the SEL you will add power seats up front, rear parking assistance, dual zone climate controls, the EasyFold remote rear seat release and satellite radio.
Continuing to go through the trim levels brings you toe the optional features that you’ll love to have on the Ford Edge. These include the AWD system, a navigation system, a forward facing camera for parking assistance up front, blind spot monitoring, forward collision alerts, lane departure warnings, inflatable rear seat belts, a parking assistance system, leather upholstery for the Titanium and Sport trims, adaptive steering systems, a hands free liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof and a rear seat entertainment system. It would be difficult for you to find more features on a luxury SUV, which is the goal for Ford.
Get behind the wheel of the Ford Edge and you find an impressively balanced vehicle that feels more refined than the blue oval name usually invokes. The Edge is an SUV that’s easy to love on the road and can eve head out on some light trails to give you the ability to love the ride wherever you go with this SUV. The drive of the Edge is perfect for you and for your family who all get to enjoy the impressive space inside that fits everyone nicely and makes a difference in comfort and ride pleasure.
