We love our muscle cars and testing vehicles to see how fast they can travel to sixty mph or how fast they can complete a quarter mile sprint. Both of these races are done and over too fast for some to enjoy them, but with large and heavy muscle cars this is the race that they’re best suited for. At the most recent SEMA show, Chevrolet brought a Camaro that’s more likely to tear up the whole track, including the curves than just being strong on the straightaways.
This new Camaro is called the Camaro Turbo AutoX and it combines the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with the performance parts that make this car one that can cut under others around the turns and then leave them behind when the straightway comes up again. This car adds a performance suspension, brake system, air intake and exhaust system to the mix to give you a performance change that is dynamic and exciting so that you can feel the grip the car has on the track and be able to lead the pack back to the finish line in a car that might not have as much horsepower as the rest.
Performance isn’t all about the ponies under the hood. The straight run races might only require a ton of torque and horsepower to get the job done, but these performance items help this Camaro be the one that can take the low end of the curves and make the twists and turns at higher speeds than other pony cars. In order to make the most of these additions the Camaro has to have the right wheels and tires as well. This beauty rides in on 20-inch aluminum wheels that have been wrapped in Goodyear 285/35R20 tires. This car is closer to the ground than the stock models as well with a suspension lowering kit, stiffer springs and special dampers. The chassis is even made stiffer with a strut tower brace under the hood.
Even though you might not want to stop in this car, you eventually need to and some braking is needed around the twists and turns of any track. With this in mind the AutoX uses a performance front brake kit with six-piston calipers and two piece slotted rotors to give you the added control you need from brakes that are ready to perform under any conditions.
All these performance improvements are topped off with the looks that will amaze you in this car. The AutoX that Chevrolet brought to SEMA sported a Shock Yellow paint finish and Pearl Nickel hood stripes. The interior was done up in black leather and even offered a suede wrapped flat bottom steering wheel, shift knob and boot. The Camaro Turbo AutoX is a car that takes the performance a step farther than any other Camaro and is one that you’ll love to drive and enjoy all the amazing performance parts that have been added along with the comfort and appeal of the vehicle.
