Design evolution that’s entirely Lexus
The TNGA-K platform might underpin both the Toyota and Lexus SUVs, but it doesn’t provide styling elements. This new design brings body-color to this area, providing a more subtle look to the front of the TX. The TX is the right size
Lexus faced challenges with its three-row crossovers of the past. The midsize RXL wasn’t big enough, while the GX and LX models offer ample space but ride on body-on-frame platforms. There are three different options for power in this new Lexus SUV. The base TX350 brings a 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides 275 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. Moving to the TX500h F Sport, a hybrid electric motor is added to the V6 to provide 366 horsepower and an AWD layout. The top model is the TX550h+ PHEV which utilizes a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a hybrid motor to provide 406 horsepower to the wheels.
Fuel mileage is an important part of the TX
The base Lexus TX isn’t a fuel sipper, but it does pretty well with its naturally aspirated V6. This powertrain returns 21 mph combined while the TX 550h achieves 24 mpg combined, and the TX 550h+ reaches 30 mpg combined. The PHEV powertrain also offers 33 miles of all-electric driving range, which could be enough for most of your daily driving needs.
More cargo room than other midsize SUVs
Midsize three-row SUVs aren’t known for offering generous cargo areas behind the third row. This is the trade-off when choosing an SUV with three rows, but the new TX has more space than most other midsize SUVs. This new Lexus SUV has 20.1 cubic feet of space, which is only bested by the Kia Telluride at 21 cubic feet. The TX holds more cargo than the new Mazda CX-90, which offers 15.9 cubic feet, and the Acura MDX, which has 18.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row.
The seats provide comfort for all passengers
When you see the cabin area of the new Lexus TX, you’ll be amazed. Every seat is a NuLuxe-trimmed model that has a high-end appearance and feel without using animal-based materials. These seats come in several colors, with the first two rows bringing heating and ventilation to the drive. This ensures you’ve got a comfortable place to sit no matter the weather. If you choose the TX550h trims, you’ll find a set of power-folding third-row seats which store away easily to open up more space for your cargo.
Large screens dominate the TX’s dashboard
The most recently refreshed models in the Lexus lineup feature impressive tech items and large screens. The infotainment screen in this new three-row Lexus SUV measures 14 inches in size, and is located in the center of the dashboard. You’ll get connected to the infotainment system through the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems. Next to the infotainment screen is where you’ll see a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, offering the customized settings desired. Finally, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Sound System is offered to give you concert-level sound quality in the new Lexus TX.
