Top Gear Keeps Bringing Us More to Love

05.17.16 - Extra Gear

The Top Gear show has become a huge hit around the world as the show you want to watch when you want to learn more about cars. This show offers us entertaining back and forth banter between hosts and typically features a comparison of vehicles of similar ilk. Whether they show you cars you know that are on the market here in America or they offer you something that is a bit different than what you normally see on the roads there is no doubting how much fun this show can be and the true enthusiasm each host shows for the cars they present.

Previous announcements told us that Matt LeBlanc, former star of Friends, is going to be one of the hosts along with Chris Evans. The two should have a wonderful time talking about cars as Chris is a surefire expert and Matt has a love for cars and can bring a special look to the set with regards to the vehicles being offered for comparison. With this pair the show is certain to have continued success that can even reach new heights, but Top Gear has found another way to give us more of what we want.

A new spin-off show will launch in May and will give us a different look at the Top Gear show as this will be a behind the scenes view of the show. The plan is to film this show each week right after the Top Gear show has been completed. The host for this new show, called Extra Gear, will be Rory Reid who can certainly give you a different look and provide a bit of a cheeky humor to what we just saw on the main Top Gear show so that we as an audience can have a more in depth experience with the team.

The episodes for Extra gear will be a half hour long and are expected to feature new footage, interviews and specially recorded film that will partner perfectly with the main show. The reports are that the audience for Top Gear are some of the most discerning gearheads in the world and this look behind the scenes by Rory will certainly be a welcome addition to the show. This look will let us see how the show is made and give us the perspective that lets us feel as if we are part of the action of making the main show.

The new show, Extra Gear, will be shown on BBC Three following the Top Gear show on BBC Two. That only affects British viewers, but we will get to see it as well in America as it will air on BBC America as well so that an entire viewing audience is able to enjoy the new show as well as the main show. The times for these airings vary by location, but this should certainly be a great way for Top Gear to gain even more popularity than it already has among the gearheads of the world.
