Who Said They Could Do That?

01.06.17 - Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

I’m (unofficially) putting Mercedes-Benz on notice for not following the rules of engagement. Never before have I seen such a deceitful move by an automaker and it comes in two parts form the three pointed star brand. Just because they build some of the most amazing luxury cars on the market today doesn’t give them the right to break all the rules and come up with some of their own. First they decided to show off their new 2018 E-Class Coupe ahead of the 2017 Detroit Auto Show where it will make its debut and secondly they took two doors off one of our favorite sedans on the market today.

Don’t the leaders at Mercedes-Benz know they are supposed to test their new cars and let photographers capture the “spy photos” that are leaked ahead of time? This was a downright unveiling to show us everything we want to know about this car. They gave a full photo shoot without that silly camouflage that so many automakers think masks any part of the vehicle but in reality it just give us headaches. I suppose it’s possible I could forgive Mercedes-Benz for being this excited about their new vehicle that they had to share it with the world before the upcoming auto show.

As for the two doors that are missing, this new Coupe is something that you’ll want to see, but I’m still not sure yet. This new coupe will be longer, taller and wider than the version that came before it to give you and your passengers more space on the inside and a larger and more luxurious footprint to enjoy on the road. This new version of the E-Class Coupe is absolutely stunning and offers us some of the most impressive features you’ll want to have.

As for the power, the E-Class that comes to the US will be the E400 and E400 4Matic, both of which will be powered by the 3.0-liter biturbo V6 engine that brings in 329 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque. These two models will offer you the 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission that will make it possible for you to reach sixty mph in only 5.2 seconds in the regular model and 5.5 seconds in the 4Matic. this powertrain is perfectly built for this car and makes it one impressive luxury car for the new model year that will begin for 2018.

Inside you’ll find a gorgeous amount of materials and trim pieces to give you the look and feel you want. right in the middle of the center stack you’ll see a 12.3-inch COMAND high resolution display screen and have the enjoyment of a variety of apps and the navigation system. this car will be built with Drive Pilot which is the next version of the semi-autonomous driving experience that you can enjoy in this new car. All these features and the equipment aside, this is a couple that is able to follow someone up to a speed of 130 mph, which makes me wonder where it would do this, but it can.

Should I give Mercedes-Benz a pass on this one? I certainly think so, this new 2018 E-Class Coupe will be one of the most impressive cars to balance elegance with sport for us in a long time.
