The Mitsubishi Vision is Translated

It seemed that the Geneva Motor Show was the place where we saw the typical lineup of supercars, but it’s also where many of the new hybrid and electric SUV concepts made their way to the stage as well. One of the models that came to the show is the new Mitsubishi model called the Engelberg Tourer Concept. This electric SUV is one that just might be the most radical of the electric SUVs that were present, and we can likely expect to see this model changed and altered before it becomes a production model.

What is this new Mitsubishi SUV?

The new Engelberg Tourer Concept is the model that represents the future vision of Mitsubishi. This plug-in hybrid SUV is big, box, and has the power needed to make it an impressive vehicle to drive. Powered by a Twin Motor 4WD plug-in hybrid EV system, this could be a great choice for your drive if it does make its way to the production line. The powertrain consists of a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a 20-kWh battery pack and an electric motor mounted at each axle. The engine doesn’t drive the wheels, it only acts as a generator for the battery pack.

Made for Efficiency and Capability

The EV layout for this new concept is rated to give you an electric driving range of nearly 43 miles and total range with a full tank of gas of over 434 miles. This is an impressive distance and one that will make it easy for this SUV to be the one you drive on a daily basis when you’re looking for more efficiency. Because of the dual-motor layout that puts power to both axles, you can enjoy the added capability of this SUV if you choose to drive on trails or run into some tough weather.

A New Power Source from Mitsubishi

The new Engelberg Tourer Concept isn’t all that Mitsubishi brought to the Geneva Motor Show. A new at-home EV charging system was also brought to give us something extra you can enjoy in your home. This item is a home charging system called Dendo Drive House which is a bi-directional charger, solar panels, and a home battery. Not only can you charge your hybrid or EV with this system, the solar panels can also add electricity to your home and your vehicle can be used as a home generator when needed in an emergency.

No Timeline Yet

We don’t have a timeline to tell us when this new Mitsubishi concept will become a production model and the style of this SUV seems that it will need to fall in line with other models form the brand before approved for production. We might see more concept versions of this SUV offered at various shows in the near future before we ever see it as the production vehicle we want to drive. Expect to learn more about the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept as we come closer to this powertrain arriving on the roads we drive every day.
