If you’ve shopped or driven a new Toyota Tundra recently, you’ve probably come across the i-Force Max powertrain. This powertrain is the latest Toyota thing.
It combines the power of a twin-turbo gas engine and an electric motor to give the Tundra impressive performance. Now, Toyota is expanding its i-Force engine lineup to include one for the all-new Tacoma, and it’s being produced right in the U.S.
The All-New i-FORCE 2.4-liter
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is all new and improved. The new generation Tacoma even offers an all-new engine option. The i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder hybrid uses a turbo four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor. They combine to generate 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Not only does this engine give the new Tacoma more horsepower than it’s seen before, it also gives it more towing power. It can now pull up to 6,500 pounds.
The I-FORCE Max
The new i-FORCE 2.4-liter uses the same setup as the i-FORCE Max that the Toyota Tundra has offered for a few years now. The difference is the Max version uses a 3.5-liter V-6 gas engine and a 48-horsepower electric motor that sits between the engine and the transmission. These combine to give the Tundra 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. This version of the Tundra is available with all-wheel drive, and it can shoot from zero to 60 in just 5.7 seconds. Let’s not forget that it is a hybrid, so it will efficiently get you from point A to point B, in addition to getting you there with impressive power.
What Else Is New With the 2024 Tacoma?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma received updates from top to bottom. It’s built on the TNGA-F platform, has new trim levels, and lots of new tech features. Most trims have a 7-inch digital display, but a larger 12.3-inch driver information display comes with the Limited and above. These higher-end models also have some added comfort in the cabin with heated and ventilated front seats. Passengers in the new Tacoma will appreciate the extra headroom and the raised seating.
What’s even more impressive in the new Tacoma is the available 14-inch infotainment touchscreen. It works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also get wireless charging in this new pickup truck and JBL stereo system.
What is New with the 2024 Toyota Tundra?
The Toyota Tundra only has a few updates for the 2024 model year, and some of the optional packages are available on more trims. Other than these minor changes this Toyota pickup truck still comes in seven trim levels including the off-road-ready TRD Pro and the ultra-luxurious Capstone. The Capstone comes standard with the i-FORCE Max hybrid powertrain and four-wheel drive. It also has power-deploying running boards, a cargo-bed step, and exclusive detailing inside and out.
If you want to ride in comfort, this is the Toyota Tundra to choose. It has noise reducing glass for the front door windows and premium leather upholstery covering the seats.
