It’s about time an automaker was able to deliver on the promise they made. Even though most of the time a company will have a spokesperson that makes no concrete promises, we are typically given some sense of the timeline goals and performance targets an automaker intends to hit when they look to bring a new model to the market. It would be pretty boring and a short presentation if a company were to send a spokesperson to the podium to simply say “we’re building a new car” and that was all.
Unfortunately, many times we’re presented with goals that aren’t met when it comes to the timeframe of the new vehicle. This can be frustrating, especially for those customers who preordered their new model from the company. Thankfully, Chevrolet has delivered on its promise to us in order to bring us the new Bolt EV to the market when it expected to do so. The original goal for this vehicle, that was put to paper prior to the actual production model beginning was to bring is a car that offered at least 200 miles of range on a single full charge, a price of $30,000 after the federal tax credit was taken and the goal of delivering this car by the end of 2016.
At the time of this statement the Bolt had gone from the thought process and the hand building of a few models to actually having a few on the line, but no one would have known what the Bolt would become for Chevrolet. This new EV has over-delivered, which is always a good thing, and brought us a car that has the performance and pricing numbers we want to enjoy to be the new long range EV that we can certainly love to drive.
The Bolt EV, as we already know, has 238 miles of range from its charge, is priced at just below the target mark once the tax credit is taken and as of right now three deliveries of this car have taken place to celebrate the public sale of this car as it makes its way across the country. The Bolt is the car that met and exceeded all expectations and promises from Chevrolet, bringing us the confidence we want to have in an automaker that has been giving us the vehicles we love for many years.
With this new EV on the market, the trek eastward has begun. The Bolt, as all EVs should, starts its sales in California and will work its way to the East Coast by the end of 2017 so that every Chevrolet dealership in the nation has the ability to sell the Bolt. This exciting little EV not only beat the expectations of its own company, but it beat the Model 3 from Tesla to the market by nearly a year or more. At a time when automakers have a tendency to let us down when it comes to the promises they make, the Bolt EV is a car that delivers and makes it possible for you to never need to fill up with a tank of gas again as long as you own this car.
