Camaro Performance Features in the Heavy Duty Silverado

Chevrolet Yenko Silverado

How’d you like to own the perfect combination of Chevrolet Camaro performance and Silverado toughness, all in one sublimely rugged pickup truck? Yeah, so would we.
When you’re looking for the right way to cool the engine under the hood of a sports car or find a way to squeak out tenths of a second on the track, you need to take every advantage you can. Chevrolet has done this with the Camaro by adding what’s been called the flowtie to the front of the Camaro ZL1. For the past five years, the flowtie has been part of the most aggressive models of the Camaro to allow more airflow into the engine area through a unique feature that’s simple in design.

The flowtie is the way Chevrolet describes the front bowtie badge of the Camaro that’s been hollowed out to improve the airflow by a small amount. This small amount is enough to make a difference and allow Chevrolet to continue to offer this feature to the Camaro ZL1 and previously in the Z/28. Now, we will see this feature offered on the front of some of the large, heavy-duty, pickup trucks that are part of the market in the upcoming months. This feature is expected to work on the Silverado in much the same way it does on the Camaro already.

What does this Mean for the Silverado HD Models?

The Silverado pickup trucks that are equipped with the massive 6.6-liter turbocharged diesel engine will benefit from this added airflow into the engine bay. This is a hard working engine that produces 350 horsepower and 700lb.-ft. of torque for the drive that you want to make. While it may seem this hollowed out badge would only improve the airflow a small amount, it’s going to make a huge difference to this engine when you take it out for a drive or put this truck to work to get the most out of it.
This small improvement at the front of the truck isn’t the only item added to make the HD models work smarter under the hood. There’s now a hood that slopes down to give you better visibility, 50 degree wheel cuts for better maneuverability, a wide open engine bay to make it easier for work to be done in this area of the truck, grip handles on the fiberglass hood that makes it lighter and easier to handle when you need to open it to access the engine. This truck is built with you in mind and is able to make things much easier for you every day.
The new versions of the Chevrolet Silverado HD trucks that will arrive on the market for the 2019 model year will bring in a feature found in the Camaro and a lot more to make the work you do easier in this truck. If it’s time for you to have a new work truck for the big jobs you need to get done, you’ll want to take a look at this truck and what it has for you. There’s nothing the Silverado HD models can’t do, and you can enjoy the capability when you visit your nearby Chevrolet dealer.
