Will the Silverado EV Stand Up Against the Rivals?

When the Chevy Silverado EV arrives in its initial form, this truck will come at a price that you would never think of paying.

Thankfully, that first version will be the RST model that comes fully loaded with everything you could imagine, giving us a shiny object that will be amazing to see but might not give us the work gear we desire. Once the RST arrives, there will be a brief wait for the WT model to make its appearance at a more affordable price to give you the workhorse that you need.

The Chief Rival for the Chevy

As it’s been since the beginning of trucks, there will be a head-to-head battle between Chevy and Ford for dominance in the electric pickup truck market. The main rival for the Chevy is going to be the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Lightning is going on sale as a 2022 model, and it comes at a price that fits into the truck market. Additionally, the Ford model looks like a traditional F-150, which means it will bring a package that’s more recognizable for truck owners to enjoy. The Chevy will offer an appearance package that looks like the former Chevy Avalanche and nothing like a traditional version of the Silverado.

Additionally, The Ford being offered for 2022 gives it a two-year head start on the Chevy, which will be offered for the 2024 model year. The trim levels offered, sale date and build are all factors that could put the Ford Lightning well ahead of the Chevy Silverado EV before the Chevy model ever makes it to the market. This brings up the title question once again, which asks how this truck will stand up to the rivals.

When Driving Range Matters, Chevy Delivers

If you want a truck that can give you more than one day of driving range from the batteries, the Silverado EV will be the truck you want to drive. When the RST model appears, it will deliver 400 miles of driving range which is at least 100 miles more than the most powerful version of the Ford Lightning.

The range for the Chevy is also quite a bit more than most of the electric vehicles in the market that can only give you between 200 and 250 miles of range. The range of this new Silverado could be a game-changer in every way. This truck is giving you 400 miles of driving means that you could drive just as far with this truck as you would be able to when you have a gasoline model.

A Renewed Shot at the EV Market

When it first appeared, the Chevy Bolt EV was quickly one of the most popular, affordable EV models in the market. Tesla was behind with the Model 3, and the Bolt was being offered with the driving range, small size, and excellent pricing that made it great to drive. In 2021, several models of the Chevy Bolt caught fire and cost the automaker millions of dollars. This caused the popularity of the Bolt to fall.

Bringing an electric truck to the market will give the bowtie brand a much-needed second chance at producing electric vehicles that we want to enjoy driving every day. The goal, right from the start, is to ensure this truck isn’t prone to catching fire. The EV market for Chevy needs to be rejuvenated to ensure we have a truck that can give us power, performance, and electric driving.

The Work Truck Trim Will be the Disruptor

While the RST versions of the Silverado EV will certainly gain a following and garner the sales and attention that will make it a success, the WT trim will quickly become the dominant model in the EV truck market. Chevy has had a hard time beating Ram or Ford in the half-ton truck market, but that could have something to do with the GMC Sierra being part of the market at the same time.

When the more affordable version of the electric Silverado appears, it will be capable of being the EV truck of choice when it shows up. This truck brings a sleek futuristic design, a configurable truck bed, and the items that will make this truck the top one chosen. At least, that’s what Chevy is certainly hoping for when this impressive truck arrives in the next couple of years.

More Power for Your Drive

The Chevy Silverado EV is ready to come to the market, and it will bring a ton of horsepower for you to have the capabilities you’re looking for. You’ll have 664 horsepower and up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity to make sure you can pull the heavy load when you need to go to the job site or when it’s time to take your truck to the lake for a weekend of fun.

The Ford F-150 Lightning maxes out at 536 horsepower, which isn’t as much as the Chevy. That means the Silverado will trump the Lightning and give us more power for the drive when this new electric truck arrives.

Will Other Competitors Take the Lead?

By the time the WT trim of the Chevy Silverado EV arrives, other models will be in the market and just might be the models that are chosen over either the Ford or the Chevy. We will see the Rivian R1Tthat gives you up to 14,000 pounds of towing, the GMC Sierra EV, which will be the same as the Chevy with an upscale cabin area, and the Ram 1500 Electric that could match or beat other the Ford or the Chevy.

The question of how the Chevy EV truck will stand up against its rivals is one that won’t be answered until after the WT version arrives in the market. Will this truck be capable of taking some of the market shares away from Ford, Ram, Rivian, or will it fall short of some of the other brands? Get ready for an electrifying ride into the future of pickup trucks.
