It’s hard to believe that the Kia Sportage has been around for 30 years, but the 2024 model will mark its 30th anniversary. Some markets have already seen a new 30th Anniversary special edition hit the lot at their Kia dealer, and hopefully, this cool edition will make its way to the United States soon.
Distinctly Fun Look on the Outside
The Sportage 30th Anniversary Edition has a unique exterior design and some changes in the cabin. The exterior features a gloss black finish for the grille, lower doors, front and rear bumpers, and mirror caps. It comes with either 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, and these also have a gloss-black finish. To top it all off, there’s a matching gloss black roof rack.
The Inside Is Worth a Look Too
Inside, this Sportage sets itself apart from other trims with a choice between green and black quilted leather upholstery. If you choose the green when you see it at a Kia dealer, you’ll love how it looks in contrast to the black suede trim. It also features the 30th-anniversary logo in several places in the cabin, including embroidered on the headrests.
It also comes standard with a generous number of features, from the premium stereo system to the panoramic sunroof.
Safety Is Always Front and Center in the Kia Sportage
The Korean version of the Sportage 30th Anniversary edition comes equipped with rear-side airbags. It’s the first vehicle in South Korea in its market segment to have these airbags as a standard feature. It also comes standard with all the advanced driver aids we’re used to seeing with the Kia Sportage. You’ll get a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, lane-departure warning with mitigation, and lane-keep assist. Parking sensors will alert you to any obstacles that might not be visible through the rear window when you’re backing up, and a driver attention warning system will send the driver a visual warning if it senses fatigue.
Other safety features that might be available with the special anniversary edition include adaptive cruise control and a forward cross-path detection system that will automatically apply the brakes when it senses an imminent collision when crossing through an intersection.
The Kia Sportage Still Has Plenty of Power
Power for the Kia Sportage comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 187 horsepower and gets 178 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission works perfectly in sync with the engine to provide a smooth and comfortable ride. This small Kia comes standard with front-wheel drive, but if you want or need all-wheel drive, it’s available.
The Kia Sportage 30th Anniversary edition arrived for the 2024 model year in South Korea, and although Kia has not confirmed that it will arrive at your local Kia dealer in the United States, it’s likely that this cool version of the Sportage will soon make its way over. Stay tuned so you don’t miss out.
